in today’s counseling session (of which i have a love\/hate relationship with), my counselor read me this poem. as tears welled up my eyes, i could name an example for each and every one of the areas within it. i am processing through this and my homework is to journal my response, but thought i’d at least share this with you. i am definitely on a journey of brokenness that God is walking me through, but i am grateful for the progressive sanctification.<\/p>\n
My name is Pride. I am a cheater.
\nI cheat you of your God-given destiny\u2026
\nbecause you demand your own way.
\nI cheat you of contentment\u2026
\nbecause you \u201cdeserve better than this.\u201d
\nI cheat you of knowledge\u2026
\nbecause you already know it all.
\nI cheat of you of healing\u2026
\nbecause you\u2019re too full of me to forgive.
\nI cheat you of holiness\u2026
\nbecause you refuse to admit when you\u2019re wrong.
\nI cheat you of vision\u2026
\nbecause you\u2019d rather look in the mirror than out a window.
\nI cheat you of genuine friendship\u2026
\nbecause nobody\u2019s going to know the real you.
\nI cheat you of love\u2026
\nbecause real romance demands sacrifice.
\nI cheat you of greatness in heaven\u2026
\nbecause you refuse to wash another\u2019s feet on earth.
\nMy name is Pride. I am a cheater.
