{"id":861,"date":"2008-04-22T16:56:15","date_gmt":"2008-04-22T21:56:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pinkhairedgirl.net\/?p=861"},"modified":"2008-04-22T16:56:15","modified_gmt":"2008-04-22T21:56:15","slug":"red-yellow-black-white-not-green","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sherecovery.com\/blog\/?p=861","title":{"rendered":"red &amp; yellow, black &amp; white&#8230; not green"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>maybe i&#8217;ll lose readers after this, but you know&#8230; if i was anything other than real on here, i might as well close it down.<\/p>\n<p>with this being &#8220;green week&#8221; all over the place&#8230; on major tv networks, yahoo!, google&#8230; everywhere&#8230; i can&#8217;t help but get a little more than just <strike>annoyed by it<\/strike>. (i retract the annoyed comment, but have yet to find a better word for it.)<\/p>\n<p>now, don&#8217;t get me wrong&#8230; i, myself, prefer organic foods, carpool with my mom and participated in <a href=\"http:\/\/earthhour.org\/\">earth hour<\/a>, but with all the millions spent on green homes, hybrid cars and who knows whatever else&#8230; is any of this really doing anything to impact the world?<\/p>\n<p>in my opinion&#8230; NO.<\/p>\n<p>why? the cynic in me would say it is because i think global warming is a total crock. but the truer answer and point of this entry, is that i care more about the diseased, the orphaned, the homeless and the gospel \u2013 than i do about being green.<\/p>\n<p>i feel like if we&#8217;re going to put focused energy on something in this world, then it ought to be on things of eternal value. when all is said and done, the earth will be restored. yes, we have a responsibility to take care of it and be good stewards of its resources, but i believe the greater responsibility we have is to <strong>each other<\/strong>. if we put into action even a fraction of the energy, money, time and resources used on <em>all things green<\/em> into helping the impoverish, curing the diseased and spreading the gospel &#8230; millions upon millions upon millions of lives would be saved.<\/p>\n<p><strong>giving another kind of green can make the world a whole lot greener for someone in need:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>*<a href=\"http:\/\/www.compassion.com\/sponsor_a_child\/waystosponsor\/childsearch.htm\">Sponsor a Child<\/a><br \/>\n*<a href=\"https:\/\/www.compassion.com\/contribution\/giving\/malariaintervention.htm\">Malaria Intervention Fund<\/a><br \/>\n*<a href=\"http:\/\/www.compassion.com\/contribution\/leadershipdevelopment.htm\">Leadership Development Program<\/a><br \/>\n*<a href=\"https:\/\/www.servicenetwork.com\/olg\/kcr\/Donate.asp\">Help the Homeless<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/thehomelessguy.blogspot.com\/\">even this guy<\/a>.<br \/>\n<em><br \/>\n<strong>Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
