I went to college with a guy named Esera Tuahalo. He was a football player for Oregon State, and he was enrolled in my voice class one semester. Dude was just a big ugly Samoan kid, but was actually a really nice guy. Turns out he had a heck of a singing voice, probably better than 90% of the music majors in the department at the time. He blew us away with it. You just never know.
