Easter is my favorite.
I should probably do this more often, but Easter always gets me thinking about the sacrifice Jesus really made—the weight of bearing the sin of the world.
The weight of bearing my sin.
From the beginning of time, to the end of time to come… He bore the sins of the world on that cross. And not just the little sins like lying about how many donuts I ate yesterday. But the big sins like the man on death row, guilty of raping and killing 12 women.
It seems silly to even put those 2 sins in the same breath. But the same blood that covered my donut lies, is the same blood that covered his acts of murder…
and the same blood covers your sin too.
But if you feel as though you’ve done too much to ever be loved by Christ—let alone be forgiven for the messiness in your life—you’re in good company with some of the most prominent figures in the Bible:
- Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit and introduced sin to the world.
- David has an affair and killed his mistress’ husband.
- Abraham had a child with his mistress.
- Moses killed a man.
- Mary Magdalene was an adulteress and prostitute.
- Peter denied Christ three times.
Yet, we see in scripture that God still loved and publicly forgave these crazy people (and many more like them).
And He does love you, He has forgiven you and He wants to be with you.
And He proved it by dying so that you could live with Him forever.
So, as we celebrate His resurrection this coming Easter, remember friends that the old is gone—and the New has come.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17
Wow. You know, that makes me wonder… will people ever grasp the enormity of Gods love?

I think we always build people in the Bible to be amazing people when really they had sins just like us. If we could just see how amazing God is and how he works through us then we would see ourselves as equals
