======================================

I had the privilege of meeting the PinkHairedGirl in person a little over a month ago and I was so excited about the opportunity. I was eager to meet face to face with a new friend. What I love and appreciate about Crystal is her honesty, transparency and love for ministry. This is so evident through her blog but was also true of her in person. I’m honored to be able to share on her blog while she is in Africa!

“If my life is fruitless, it doesn’t matter who praises me, and if my life is fruitful, it doesn’t matter who criticizes me.” John Bunyan

This quote rings so true when I read it but why is it that I find myself focusing on the praise rather than the fruit? Why am I tempted to live my life pursuing praise rather than pursuing fruit?

Galatians 5:22-23 say, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”

You probably know this verse by heart. I can rattle off the list of fruit like I know what I’m talking about… but do I? Do I know what it means to display love, true unconditional love? Do I exude joy no matter the circumstances? Do I live my life in peace? Do I have patience for those around me? Am I kind? What does it mean to display goodness? Am I faithful? Am I gentle? How often do I lack self-control?

My head knows all about the fruit. Now it’s time to get my heart aligned. How about you?
