My New Thing

Up until about a week ago, I never in my life have been able to bake a decent AND edible cookie.

Happy to say now: things have changed. I don’t know how, but I’ve figured it out and I am so excited about it. Biggest changes I made: using room temperature butter and eggs, and reduced the recipe’s temperature by 15°. I have a gas oven and apparently it was just too hot to handle. Haha.

And voila!

I’ve probably made 80 cookies in the last week. I am finding that baking (now that the end result is favorable), is quite therapeutic. Maybe it is all the beating and mixing… I dunno. But it is working for me.

Next up:
Christmas Cupcakes for my nephews.
I’ll let you know how those go.

Do you bake? Share easy/fun recipes you enjoy.

I did ask Santa for one of these this year, but I think he knows about my unbelief in him. Bah! Humbug.

  1. I ask for that very same thing every year. One can dream I suppose!

Just a quick tip if you like freshly baked cookies. Make the dough and section it off and freeze it….then just pull out of the freezer and bake for yummy fresh cookies. I do it often (I am a chocolate chip cookie snob) I also like to try out new recipes just for fun!

  2. I too have discovered baking but it was a sour cream cake. Nothing special about the recipe just a tradition of a great aunt handed down to my mom. Now I’m picking it up. Since mid November I’ve baked two going on three tomorrow. New favorite cookie for me since last year is sugar cookie mix or roll, add cranraisins, white chocolate chips and pecans. OMG!!! So festive with the cranraisins and w/ the white choc, it just doesn’t get any better. Happy baking and Merry Christmas!!
