Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go

The #1 song on the pop charts the day I was born was none other than, "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" by WHAM! How awesome is that? I knew there must have been a reason for my unusual obsession with that particular 80s classic. (find your own here)

If you check out that linkage and discover your birthday pop hit… I would love to know what you found out.

This past weekend was a GREAT one. I went as staff on a Student Ministry retreat called ROOTS (a celebratory retreat following the completion of a 5-week student ministry curriculum – based on Col. 2:6-7, "So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.")

Whenever I go on these types of retreats or even just camp I somehow get unexpectedly fed myself. Amongst the businesses of my own job… God seems to sneak in and shake me up as only He can do. The last evening session of the retreat was one that I will never soon forget. The scheduled time for it was only supposed to be an hour and a half but turned into a 3-hour worship service. The Holy Spirit was most definitely moving there that night.

Our students were completely engaged in the worship stations (bread, art, reading, praying, etc.) I was able to pray with one of our students. It was one of those kinds of prayers where you are praying for someone and you KNOW that God is holding you and leading you through it. What a privilege.

Later on during communion (which by the way Darren Miley explained and orchestrated in a way I have never experienced) I was overwhelmed by God. His voice was so loud I was almost positive it was audible. A lot of frustration and confusion going on my head & heart were completely wiped away by what I heard from Him and a mightily feeling of peace was evident. What a freeing thing it is to just stop and worship God… and be silent and listen.

A lot of confirmation was shown to me. My dream once again was refreshed and renewed and I know that I am on the right track to get there.

Dreams to me are very imporant. Obviously not the sleeping dreams, but that dream within you that you just can’t shake. Whether is a dream job, a dream life, or a dream whatever… I believe it is so very important to vocalize it – not just out loud to a friend, but to God. What I learned from the book The Dream Giver, God wants you to have a dream that is His dream for your life.

What is your dream?
Have you told anyone what your dream is?
Have you asked God what His dream is for you?
How will you reach your dream?

…Please be in prayer for my grandpa as he is scheduled to receive a pacemaker tomorrow morning because of this continued signs of heart failure…
