the why in tragedy
“Steven Curtis Chapman’s youngest child [adopted Chinese daughter Maria, age 5] died Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a car driven by her teenage brother in the driveway of the family’s Williamson County home.”
i’ve met SCC on a couple of different occasions, but i by no means, know him. however, through his music (“dive” was the camp theme the year of my salvation and my first introduction to Christian music) and through the handful of people i know who have been recipients of his charity’s grants… i feel like i to do. my heart continues to break for this family.
like seriously, what do you do with that kind of news? any way you look at it right now, it is a tragedy and one that we do not understand.
as Christians, we are told to believe that everything happens for a reason. To draw us closer to Himself… in order to learn something… God’s in control… God makes good out of bad… etc. but it is times and circumstances such as this where even i am saying, “why this? why this family?”
have you ever experienced a great tragedy but after some time passed, you were able to see the why?
